Day 1: Kisumu - Lake Naivasha (Great Rift Valley)
Depart from Kisumu early morning after breakfast by road  to arrive in Lake Naivasha for lunch at the accommodation by the lakeside. After Lunch, drive to Hell's Gate National Park. Hell's Gate National Park the only Park in Kenya which visitors are free to either use their vehicle for game or walk or cycle side by side with wild animals in the Park. The Park’s special locations to view include: Fischer's Tower, formerly a volcano's plug, the Central Tower and Njorowa Gorges. Two extinct volcanoes: Olkaria and Hobley's are worth a trip. Natural steam vents rise from fissures in the volcanic rock. Obsidian, a striking black glassy rock formed from cooled molten lava is a feature of this landscape.

 

Game to view includes: Buffaloes, Masai Giraffes, Elands, Coke's Hartebeests, Lions, Leopards and some Cheetahs. AE61 02 Days Ruma National Park Budget Safari Tour From Kisumu

Day 1: Kisumu – Ruma National Park:
Leave Kisumu in the morning by road to Lwanda Kotieno for onward transfer by a ferry to Mbita Mainland Drive further to Sindo, then turn left on Sindo-Homabay road, turn right on the sign board of Ruma National Park, then to Nyatoto gate for clearance formalities with the Kenya Wildlife Service. Enjoy an extensive game drive with picnic lunch at a convenient picnic site in the park. Ruma National park lies in Western Kenya, close to the shores of Africa’s largest inland Lake, Lake Victoria. The park is considered the last retreat and the sanctuary of the endangered and threatened Roan antelope which is considered one of the Africa’s rarest Antelopes. This park was established as Lambwe Valley Game Reserve in 1966 to protect its indigenous population of rare Roan Antelope which exist nowhere else in Kenya. It acquired national park status in 1993 and renamed Ruma National Park on the request of the local community in honor of one of the most powerful Kenya’s wizards-the much-feared Gor Mahia who was living high on a hill which now forms part of the Kanyamwa Escarpment, from where he could watch over all people because his magic was so powerful that he controlled not only South Nyanza, but far beyond. We then drive to Mbita Town in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.

 

Day 2: Mbita Rusinga Island Excursion  – Kisumu.
After breakfast, depart from your accommodation for an excursion to Rusinga Island. Rusinga is an austerely pretty island with high crags dominating the desolate goat-grazed landscape. A single dirt road is running around its circumference. Life here is difficult, drought commonplace, and high winds a frequent torment. Ecologically, the island is in very dire straits: almost all its trees have been cut down for cooking fuel or been converted into lucrative charcoal. On the way you will see Longongo Hill where Dr. Mary and Louis Leakey found the skull of Proconsul Africanus which is believed to be approximately 18 million years old and was a man earliest ancestor and so was taken to National Museum of Kenya in Nairobi where you can view it when time allows and at an extra cost. It is also believed that this is one of the first important hominid finds of this two famous people. Drive further to Tom Mboya’s mausoleum which lies on family land at Kamasengere on the north side of the island, about 7km by the dirt road from Mbita, or roughly 5km directly across the island. The mausoleum (open most days to visitors) contains various mementoes and gifts Mboya received during his life. Tom Mboya, civil rights champion, trade Unionist and charismatic young Luo politician who was gunned down in Nairobi in 1969, sparking off a crisis that led to over forty deaths in widespread rioting and demonstrations.

Day 3: Awendo – Simbi – Kisumu:
After breakfast, drive to Rongo town then proceed further to Tabaka united community project Centre, the manufacturers of soapstone carvings in Kenya, they make variety of quality items which can be bought and used as candle holders, flower holders, sculptures, figures, coasters, plates, bowls, boxes, animal designs etc. Proceed further to reach the junction of Kisii-Kisumu road, turn left off to Kisumu road and drive to Oyugis then onto Kendu-bay and then to the mythological village of Simbi Nyaima. The folklore story about Simbi:, One day the chief of the village of Simbi in Kakseru Rachuonyo District decided to throw a big party in this tranquil and prosperous village as they had just experienced a bountiful harvest. A woman appeared in village tired and hungry. Given the excitement and the merry making, the spirit of the participant i.e. old men and their sons were very high and they choose to chase this old woman away except one woman with a child who welcomed her. The strange woman asks the village wife of the village to leave the village with her as the rain was going to sink the entire village with everything and everybody. The locals then called the downwapping, SIMBI NYAIMA. Till today, Simbi Nyaima is like a stagnant small lake and because of its water algae and the sacred in it, people with rushes in their bodies use the water to bath and to get healed. After breakfast, depart the accommodation with your picnic lunch to enjoy a ride on Ferry across Lake Victoria. View the two smallest Islands called Mbasa Namiyolo then past the beautiful fishing Island of Takawiri with very sparkling white sands, reaching Sena Beach in Mfangano Island. We take traditional boat with horse power engine for further ride to Mawanga geometric rock paintings archeological site. This beautiful historical Islands of Lake Victoria are settled by Abasuba tribes who are Bantu speakers and believed to have come from Uganda more than 200yrs ago. The paintings are thought to have been made between 1000 and 4000yrs ago and may have been used for rain making purposes. It is known for instance those similar paintings in Eastern Uganda only 200kms North of Suba district were used for this purpose. Rock engraving site in the area include “cupule” sites, where cup-shaped depressions have been ground into the rock surface, as well as a rock gong. Although cupule’s often resembles a Bao game their original use is likely to have been for ritual purposes, such as initiation. Cupules are found all over the world and are thought to be amongst the oldest form of rock art probably predating paintings such as those Mawanga and Kwitone by thousands of years. After this amazing expedition you will enjoy the traditional boat ride return transfer to Sena Beach to catch the Ferry for your onward transfer back to Mbita mainland. Day 2: Lake Naivasha- Mt. Longonot trek Safari- Lake Nakuru National Park.
After an early breakfast depart your accommodation with packed lunch then drive to Mt Longonot National Park gate. After clearance, begin a trek to Mt Longonot to 9000ft, where a feeling to the altitude go along with the tropical sun and steep slope offers a good acclimatization for climbing Mt Kenya and Mt Kilimanjaro. Standing over the shores of Lake Naivasha, at 2886 meters this massive dormant volcano dominates the landscape for miles around. The brooding hulk of the Mountain is lined with spectacular fissures and lava canyons. As you climb these slopes, you pass through herds of grazing game as spectacular views of the Rift Valley and Naivasha unfold below. Its vast crater is an awesome sight, the jagged edge surrounding a broad expanse of vegetation. Geothermal steam trickles upwards from the walls, while buffalo and other game make their way across the crater floor. After the trek, drive to L.
